Rant: I sold my gas mower and bought a reel mower to save $60 a season, and my yard in Boise now looks like a hayfield
Did the math last April and figured I'd break even on the mower by August, plus no gas runs. Cut it for 3 weeks, and the grass came back yellow and ragged because I was cutting way too low with a dull blade I never sharpened. Anyone actually make one of these work on a real lawn, or did I just burn $130 to feel smug?
Feel your pain, I did the same thing two summers ago and my Bermuda just laughed at me. Try sharpening the blade and only cutting a third of the height at a time, it made a huge difference once I stopped scalping it.
