Shoutout to my $9 rice cooker for outlasting every fancy one I have owned since 2019
Three years ago in Fresno I bought a cheap rice cooker at a garage sale for $9, mostly as a joke because my $120 one had just died after 14 months. It has now made rice about 600 times, survived two moves, and still clicks over to warm without burning the bottom, while my sister's fancy one quit in 8 months. Am I crazy for thinking the cheap ones are just built better, or did I get lucky with this specific unit?
Got lucky, plain and simple. Plenty of cheap rice cookers die in a few months too, you just never hear about those because nobody posts about their $9 cooker quitting. The fancy ones probably have more parts that can break, but that doesn't mean cheap equals built better, it just means you happened to grab a good one.
