The librarian in Boise didn't care that I read 'The Bluest Eye' at 12
My daughter's 7th grade teacher in Columbus assigned 'Speak' and three parents threw a fit. I actually sat down and read it with her, and honestly the way it handles assault is way more careful than any PG-13 movie she's seen. The school kept it on the list after a vote, but the teacher got one warning. Why do we panic over a book when the kid next door has unrestricted YouTube?

tbh this whole thing just proves how backwards the rules are, nobody cares about actual risk lol
