Serious question, did the old heads ruin us by trusting paper wiring diagrams?
I got banned from a home wiring forum last month in Dallas for saying hand drawn wiring diagrams by guys on site still beat those code app PDFs for tracing old circuits. Spent Saturday in a 1962 house with a panel someone had labeled with a Sharpie in 1994, and that faded mess made more sense than the color coded app the kid on the crew pulled up. Old diagrams show how the guy actually ran the cable through the walls, the apps just show what code says it should be. The mods said I was spreading bad practice, but the Sharpie guy had been right for 30 years while the app kept sending us to the wrong breaker. Anyone else still keep the crusty paper copies in the truck?
