Hot take: I dropped $180 on a Wahl Senior and my $40 clippers are now doorstops
Bought a Wahl Senior about 4 months back after my old $40 Amazon special started pulling hair on the sides of fades. The difference was not small. The Senior chews through thick hair without slowing down, and I quit going over the same spot 3 times like I used to. Only catch is the cord, it's not cordless, so I'm tethered to the chair the whole cut. For $180 I expected it to make me coffee too, but honestly it paid for itself in saved time by week 3. Any of you running cordless models that actually hold power through a full day, or is corded still the move?
That corded thing is the real tradeoff nobody talks about. I've been running a cordless for about a year now and the battery does hold up through a full day of cuts, but you're always watching that little light and thinking about it in the back of your head. The blade speed drops a bit as the battery drains too, which you notice on thick hair around hour 6. Feels like you're trading the leash for a countdown clock. Honestly the cordless makes more sense if you're moving around a lot or cutting in different spots, but if you're planted in one chair all day the cord is basically free power with zero worry. Maybe the play is corded for your main workhorse and a cheap cordless for touch ups and house calls.
