Just found out the average barber in Chicago makes about $45k a year, which is way more than I guessed.

I read that on a trade report from the state licensing board and it made me wonder if anyone here in other cities has seen similar numbers for their area.

That report might be counting owners and managers. The average barber just starting out here makes closer to 30k.

My buddy's first year cutting hair he barely cleared 28k. Had to live with his parents.

Exactly. Those reports always lump in the shop owners.
