Just found out the average barber in my state pulls in under $35k a year, and I had to sit down
I was poking around the Bureau of Labor Statistics site last Tuesday night after a slow day at the shop and saw that barbers in my state average about $34,800 a year, which is way less than I figured. I always assumed most guys doing this full time were clearing $50k easy, so it made me wonder if I'm just in a bad market or if the chair rent and product costs are eating everybody up. Any of you track your real take home after rent and supplies, and does that number line up with what you see around your area?
