Lunch break at the Denver barber expo changed how I handle bald fades

Saw a guy do a zero-gap fade with just a trimmer and a comb, no foil shaver, and now I've been trying it on my last 6 clients to mixed results, has anyone else messed with this technique?

Started messing with it after watching the same technique at a show, worked way better once I kept the comb flat against the head.

Flat combs never worked for me either, @corap21. They snag and pull on my hair type no matter how careful I am. I actually get way better results using a round brush and keeping the tension even that way. Saw a stylist do it on YouTube and its night and day different for my waves. Maybe it depends on hair texture or product you're using in it too.

Yeah but holding it flat just pulls my hair, not worth it for me.
