Serious question: Why does everyone act like foil shavers are just as good as clippers?

I spent 6 hours last Tuesday trying to get a clean fade with a foil shaver on a guy who wanted a skin tight zero. Everyone online says foils are the future and clippers are outdated for that look. But I had to switch back to my old clippers halfway through because the foil just would not get the blend right no matter what guard I used. Has anyone else found that foils just can't handle actual fade work the way people claim?

That exact scenario happened to me with a client last month. Foil shavers just don't have the precision for a clean fade blend no matter what guard you try, stick with your clippers for that work.

Did you try using a detail trimmer first to set the blend line before going in with the foil?
