Vent: My neighbor's "reverse sear" involved a blowtorch and a fire alarm at 6am in Houston
So my neighbor Rick, who just got a pellet smoker, decided to show off his brisket skills for a 9am football party last Saturday in Houston. Around 6am my whole building woke up to his smoke alarm because he was using a plumbing torch to "speed up the bark" on a 4 pound flat while the smoker sat cold on his balcony. He kept yelling that Aaron Franklin does it this way, which I'm pretty sure is not true. By the time I walked over, his brisket read 175 internal and the outside tasted like lighter fluid. Has anyone else had a neighbor ruin a cookoff this bad, or is it just my building?
