A guy named Sal at the bike swap in Phoenix showed me the grease trick that fixed my stuck seatposts
I was at the Phoenix bike swap last month digging through a $5 bin of seatposts when a guy named Sal running the booth noticed me fighting with a stuck one. He grabbed my frame, flipped it upside down, and shot a blast of ammonia down the seat tube, and that post slid out in about 90 seconds after I'd been yanking on it for 2 weeks. He said ammonia creeps into the galvanic corrosion between aluminum and steel way better than penetrating oil, and I've now used it on 4 bikes with a 100% success rate. I still tape off the paint and wear gloves because that stuff is nasty, but it's now the first thing I reach for. Anyone else have a weird household chemical that beats the actual bike product?
