That 2019 NOAA study on ocean heat content should scare everyone
I was just browsing random science articles last night and found a NOAA report from 2019. It said the ocean absorbed heat equal to 3.6 billion Hiroshima bombs since the 1970s. I read that stat three times because it didn't seem real. Where do we even start with something that huge, and why isn't this on every news channel?

I mean, that stat is insane but it also reminds me of when I tried explaining to my dad how much energy that actually is and he just nodded and changed the subject to his garden. He's been complaining about his tomatoes not growing right this year, which I guess kinda relates because the ocean warming messes with weather patterns that affect stuff like that. Idk, maybe it's just me but the way big numbers like that bounce off people is weird, like we can't really picture it so our brains just skip over it. It should be on the news more for sure, but I feel like they'd just show a graphic and move on to local traffic.
