Generic omeprazole gave me heartburn, the $28 Prilosec didn't, and I want to know why
CVS switched me to the store brand omeprazole in January and my stomach was a mess within a week, so I went back to name brand Prilosec at $28 a box and the burning stopped almost overnight. Same drug on the label, same 20mg, totally different result for me, and the pharmacist just shrugged and said it happens sometimes with fillers or coating. Has anyone actually gotten a straight answer from a drugmaker about why the cheap version hits different, or is this just something we all deal with quietly?
