I finally watched 'The Bear' and I don't get the hype

Last month, my friends in Chicago kept telling me I had to see it, so I binged the first season over a weekend. Everyone talks about the stress and the cooking being so real, but for me, the constant yelling just made it hard to watch. I worked in a kitchen for three years back in college, and while it's loud, the show felt like it was trying too hard to be intense every single minute. Has anyone else felt like this, or did it click for you on a second try?

Was it the constant panic that got to you?

Honestly the show is good but people act like it's some deep art. It's just a kitchen show with extra stress for tv. The yelling gets old fast and makes the whole thing feel fake after a while. Maybe some kitchens are like that but it's not that serious.

Yeah the yelling does feel fake after a while. @corap21 has a point about the constant panic too, it's just not a normal kitchen vibe. Try watching with the sound off, you see how staged a lot of it really is.
