Omg YES. My uncle made me listen to his from the 80s and I was like wait, music used to have actual variety and not just 4 songs on repeat?? Modern radio is a joke honestly.

Yeah my dad threw on a 70s playlist during a road trip last month and I counted like 15 different genres in one hour. That never happens on Spotify's top 50 now, it's just the same beat with different words. Makes you wonder if we've traded variety for convenience across everything, not just music.

The part nobody talks about is that we've also traded the SKILL of listening for pure convenience. Back then you had to actually sit through an entire album side or wait for the radio DJ to play something you liked. Now we skip after 10 seconds if the intro doesn't grab us. I catch myself doing it all the time, flicking through 50 songs in 10 minutes and remembering NONE of them. That 70s playlist forced you to actually sit with a song, even if it started slow, and discover what you liked about it. We've basically trained our brains to be impatient with EVERYTHING not just music.
