Spent $80 on a cassette to USB converter from a shady website

The thing ripped through three of my favorite mixtapes from high school before I realized the gears were grinding them up instead of playing them, has anyone else had a cheap tape player destroy their collection?

Blew $50 on a "professional" tape cleaner kit back in 2009. Turns out the cleaning fluid was just rubbing alcohol mixed with something that melted the tape reels. My brother's mix of old punk songs basically turned into a sticky glue ball before I even got through side B. Still blaming that scam website for ruining what could've been a sick road trip playlist.

Dude, that "sticky glue ball" part made me cringe so hard. I bought some miracle spray for my dad's old tapes and it literally ate through the plastic casing on a Black Sabbath album. @willowg88 is totally right though, I found an old boom box at a yard sale for like $3 and it works way better. Those "pro" kits are the biggest scam.

Spending $80 on a cassette converter is wild when a $20 goodwill boombox would've treated those tapes better. Sounds like you got scammed by a site that's basically selling paper shredders with USB ports.
