A guy at game night in Dayton said Catan was "for people who don't own real games" and then lost in 40 minutes
He spent the whole first hour explaining why his heavy euros were better and then got boxed into a corner with 4 ore and no port. Has anyone else dealt with a table guest who insults the game and then takes it way too hard?

This is the same thing as the guy who says he only drinks craft beer and then gets mad when you hand him a Bud Light at a party. Or the one who talks about how he only eats at farm to table spots and then orders chicken fingers at the bar. The game or the beer or the food is never really the point. The point is feeling like they're above the room. Then the room plays the actual game in front of them and they can't handle it. Catan isn't even hard but it will absolutely punish someone who spends the first hour talking instead of trading.
