Finally taught my little brother how to play a proper board game after years of him only wanting video games
My brother is 22 and has always been into video games, never touched a board game. Last month I dragged him to a local game cafe in Portland and we played Settlers of Catan. He actually got really into it and started making trades and negotiating hard, which surprised me. I learned that if you find the right gateway game, even the most stubborn video game kid can get hooked. Has anyone else had luck converting a non-board gamer with a specific game?

the part about "he actually got really into it and started making trades" reminded me of my cousin who's a huge Overwatch player. i finally got him to try Codenames at a party and he treated it like a strategy game, went silent for a full minute thinking about his clue. now he texts me every week asking when we can play again, which is wild because he used to say board games were just "dust collectors." i think it's all about matching their brain style, you know?

Wow, a whole minute? That's dedication right there.
