Serious question, why does everyone online rave about playing Catan at local cafes?
I visited The Game Table cafe in Portland last Saturday and watched three different groups spend 20 minutes arguing over sheep trades instead of actually playing the game, feels like the hype is more about the vibe than the actual board game experience, has anyone else found a cafe that actually prioritizes good gameplay over just being a trendy spot?

Why are people getting so worked up over sheep trades in a casual cafe game?

honestly the sheep thing feels like a proxy war for something else, like people are testing the limits of how much chaos they can cause in a game that's supposed to be chill. it's kind of fascinating seeing a casual cafe sim turn into this weird battleground for player agency.

Is there a secret underground sheep trading ring I don't know about? Honestly, I think people just want an excuse to complain about something, and sheep are an easy target. They're fluffy, they're dumb, and they don't fight back. Next thing you know, someone will start a conspiracy about the cafe's sugar packet distribution.
