Thought pipe threading was just old school waste of time

Helped an old timer thread 200 feet of 2-inch for a steam line last month. He had it measured and cut perfect in 45 minutes flat. Now I get why it beats grooved fittings sometimes.

Man, I spent the first ten minutes just watching him work and thinking he was showing off. Then I helped him haul that spool and suddenly I'm the one who looks like I don't know which end of the wrench is up.

That's the thing about old school guys like that. They've been turning wrenches since before some of us were born. Makes you feel like a total rookie no matter how many years you've got under your belt.
