inMatched with a guy who said he was a pilot, but his 'plane' was a flight simulator in his mom's basement
Man that's rough. People really do go all in on the wildest stuff sometimes, and it's crazy how long they can keep a lie going. You'd think they'd slip up at some point or just get tired of it. But I guess if someone is determined enough, they can drag anything out for years. Hope you're doing okay now though.

inWhy I think inmate tablet programs are a waste of money
I mean, let's not act like people are being forced onto a desert island with no coffee shop or library around. You can always tether your phone's hotspot to the tablet and call it a day.

inStumbled on a stat that said 79% of folks never read privacy policies
Reading privacy policies is a waste of time. They are written by lawyers for lawyers to cover the company's back, not for regular people to understand. Clicking agree without reading is the only realistic option if you want to use the internet in 2024. The real issue is should we have to agree at all, not whether we read the fine print.

inMy longbox labeling system fell apart after a comic shop guy told me to try something else
Wait, so Dave actually got you to try his system for 2 months before you switched back? I used to think sorting by story arcs was the smart way to go because it feels more like a continuous story, but now I see how it totally breaks down when you just want to grab a specific issue. I wasted a whole afternoon once hunting for a random X-Men annual that was buried in some event arc box. Did you at least find some cool stuff you forgot you had while you were reorganizing everything?

inGot told my pack was 10 pounds too heavy for the JMT and I fought back at first
and honestly that titanium pot thing is spot on lol. i had a similar brutal experience with my first titanium mug, burned rice so bad it fused to the bottom and i had to chip it off with a rock. the whole ultralight cult acts like weight is the only factor but they forget that gear actually has to work for real people in real conditions. i hiked the long trail with a 52 pound pack one year and yeah my shoulders ached but i slept like a baby every night in my big bulky tent while my buddy was up at 3am chasing his tarp stakes across the meadow. there's something to be said for just being comfortable and not having to baby your gear like it's made of eggshells.
