Rant: The extra hole should count toward your handicap, not just be a gimmick
I played this course near Tucson last month, and they had a 19th hole par 3 over a pond, and everyone treats it like a lottery ticket, but I actually shot a 2 on it and got zero credit for the round. Maybe it's just me, but if it's a real hole with real tees and real flags, why not log it under a provisional rule or something? Has anyone else tried pushing their club to make the bonus hole count, or am I the only one who thinks it messes with the whole spirit of scoring?
Most courses won't touch that because it's technically not part of the rated layout, but you can ask the pro shop to track it as a side bet or a separate score for fun. That's what we do at my home course, so it doesn't wreck anyone's handicap but still feels real.
