Fellow book club member quoted a line that totally flipped my opinion on unreliable narrators

I always hated books with unreliable narrators because they felt like cheating, but then someone pointed out that The Secret History uses it to show how memory actually works, not to trick you. Did it take anyone else a specific quote or moment to change your mind about a book you strongly disliked?

Started out hating Gone Girl for the same reason. Then realized the lies just showed how people rewrite their own history to survive.

I heard a psychology podcast say the same thing about how we all edit our memories to get by, @willowg88.

Used to roll my eyes at the whole "unreliable narrator" thing, but this actually makes so much sense (we all do it way more than we'd like to admit).
