Hit 50 books read this year and I'm not impressed with the last 20

I crossed the 50 book mark last Thursday, which is a personal record for me. But here's the thing, most of those last 20 books were popular picks from my book club and I really didn't enjoy them. Everyone raves about these bestsellers but I felt like the writing was weak and the plots were recycled. It made me wonder if I'm just reading the wrong stuff or if people hype up mediocre books just to fit in. Has anyone else kept reading a book they hated just to hit a goal?

Fifty books? That's insane. I can barely finish a magazine article.

Totally with you @the_rowan. I read maybe 3 books a year if I'm lucky and the rest is just skimming headlines and tweets. My attention span is shot these days.
