Why my book club still argues about that one ending from 8 months ago
Last January we read a mystery novel where the main character turns out to be dead the whole time. I thought it was clever, but one member, Carol, got so mad she threw the book down on her coffee table. She said, "That's cheating, the author didn't play fair." We spent the next hour going back and forth about whether hidden clues count if nobody catches them on the first read. Now every single meeting, when we pick a new book, someone brings up that ending again. It's become our inside joke and our biggest fight. Has anyone else had a book club where one bad ending basically became the group's personality?

My book club turned into a support group for people who hated a time travel book nobody else even remembers, so welcome to the club lol. The thing is, once a group finds its one big argument, every new book just becomes a way to talk about that old one again. Carol might be mad forever, but at least she kept the meetings interesting.
