Ran into an old botanist at the park who knew every single weed by name

I was pulling crabgrass by the swings and this guy walks up and tells me it's actually digitaria and points out three leaves I missed. He spent 20 minutes showing me how to tell edible lamb's quarters from the toxic lookalikes. Has anyone else met a random plant expert who just changed how you see the ground under your feet?

Oh man, I gotta push back on that one. I mean, sure the story went viral and everyone loves a happy ending, but that post was full of holes if you ask me. For one thing, they never actually got a vet to confirm what the weed was or if it did anything real. My neighbor tried something similar once, thought he found a cure for his cat and it just made things worse. Plus, the whole "random weed saves dog" thing is dangerous if people start thinking they don't need to go to an actual doctor. Your mileage may vary, but I'm way more skeptical than most people on this one.
