Found out my old mentor laid 14,000 bricks in ONE day back in 1977, still can't wrap my head around it
Got to talking with a retired mason at the supply yard in Tucson, he pulled out a faded work log from a hotel job and that number was right there in pencil, so has anyone else ever heard of anyone beating that pace without a crew doubling up?

My uncle swore he saw a guy lay 3,000 in a day back in '82, but he was drinking pretty heavy by then.

That's a classic uncle story, for sure. But @troy_price, I gotta call that one into question. 3,000 square feet in one day means laying a square every 96 seconds, nonstop, for eight hours. My crew works like dogs and we hit 1,200 on a good day with a flat floor and no cuts. Even the old-timers who did this for 30 years will tell you that number is pure fantasy. Maybe your uncle meant 3,000 over a week, or he was counting the drinks he had that day too.
