Had a guy on site last week tell me he never uses a line for anything under 20 feet, just eyeballs it and says it's faster

He swears his work is straight but I've always thought that's asking for trouble, especially on a curved wall we were doing, so which side are you on line or no line for short runs?

Take the guy's side on this one honestly. If you've done enough drywall or taping, you can pretty much eyeball anything under 20 feet and it'll come out straight, especially on a straight wall. Saves time and you're not tripping over a line on a short run.

@fiona_kim The other day I was reading that some of the old timers actually prefer eyeballing it even on longer runs because they say it trains your eye better. Your point about not tripping over a line on a short run is spot on, that's the part people miss.
