Site managers are now focusing more on team building activities.
At my company, we have short meetings every morning to go over safety and goals. It helps us communicate better and catch issues early. I see this practice spreading to other crews in the area.

Lol, does team building actually help more than quick daily check-ins?

Those big forced events can miss the mark. Real team building happens in the regular stuff, like those daily talks you mentioned. It’s about steady connection, not one-off tests.

Our manager booked a full day at the adventure park for trust exercises last month. We had to do this blindfolded rope course thing, and honestly, half the team just got frustrated and quit early. It felt more like testing patience than building trust, right? Now we're back to just talking things out at our morning meetings.

Ever hear about a trust exercise that went HORRIBLY wrong? My friend's team had to build a tower blindfolded with only verbal cues. Half the group stopped talking out of pure frustration, and the tower never got past knee height. Managers called it a "learning moment," but everyone just felt annoyed for weeks. Forced fun like that can actually HURT team mood big time.
