A cashier in Tulsa slipped me her own soup recipe after I asked about the clearance squash
She rang up 4 pounds of butternut for $1.80, then grabbed a receipt and wrote down garlic, onion, and a can of coconut milk on the back. Your mileage may vary, but that pot fed me 3 dinners for maybe $4 total. What's the best tip you've gotten from a stranger at checkout?
Watched my buddy get the best tip of his life at a hardware store register. He was buying a cheap shop vac and the old guy ringing him up asked what he was using it for. My buddy said cleaning his car, and the guy goes “skip the fancy attachments” and told him to tape a cut water bottle to the hose for tight spots. Saved him like $20 on parts and it actually works great. Guy even drew a little diagram on his receipt. Small town checkout folks are a different breed lol.
