Appreciation post: dried beans finally won me over after I did the math at the grocery store
I was standing in aisle 6 at the Kroger on Foster Road last Tuesday when I noticed a 1 pound bag of pinto beans was $1.29 and a single can was $1.19, so I grabbed the bag and made a big pot that lasted me 5 dinners. I always figured dried beans were too much hassle, but soaking them overnight while I slept took zero effort and the pot came out better than any can I have bought. What is your go to bean recipe when you want them to not taste like plain mush?
