The $4 rotisserie chicken at Costco changed my whole dinner game
So I was at the Costco on 39th last Tuesday just grabbing paper towels and somehow ended up in the checkout line behind this older guy who had like six of those $4.99 rotisserie chickens stacked in his cart. I asked him if he was feeding a small army and he laughed and said nope, just him and his wife, they buy them every trip and stretch each one into four or five meals. I figured he was exaggerating but I grabbed one anyway since it was cheaper than a fast food combo. Got home and pulled all the meat off, and I swear there was enough for two big dinners plus a whole container left over for sandwiches. Then I boiled the bones down with some onion and carrot scraps and got almost a full pot of stock that I froze in old yogurt tubs. That one chicken turned into chicken tacos, a big pot of soup, and three lunches for my husband, all for under five bucks. I've done it every week since and my grocery bill dropped around $40 a month, which sounds small until you're scraping change for gas. Does anybody else have a store staple like that where one cheap thing snowballs into a bunch of meals?
