Warning: stop buying chicken breasts, the thighs at my Aldi are $1.29 a pound and taste way better
I did the math in the parking lot on Saturday and a pack of thighs cost me $4.12 while the same weight in breasts was almost $11. People keep saying thighs are greasy but that's because they cook them like breasts, hot and fast until they're dry. I throw mine in a sheet pan at 400 with potatoes and they come out juicy every time, no brining or fancy tricks. If you're feeding a family on a tight food budget, why are you still paying double for the blandest cut at the store?
