Am I the only one who packs a water bottle just to dump it before security?
I finally solved my airport food and drink cost problem. I just bring my empty bottle through and fill it at a fountain after the checkpoint. It seems so simple now that I think about it.

Have you checked the fountains recently? I use them all the time and they're mostly clean, just run the water for a second. It beats paying five bucks for a bottle of water every time.

My friend Jake once found a bug in a fountain and still used it after washing it out. He says they're usually CLEAN enough if you let the water run.

Totally, they're nasty. I saw a kid put his whole mouth over the spout once. And the button is always sticky from a hundred dirty hands. I'll only use one if I'm actually dying of thirst.
