Finally checked Hostelworld's 'secret' prices and saved $47
I've been booking hostels the normal way for years, never thinking twice. Last week I was looking at a place in Barcelona and noticed a tiny toggle for 'member prices' after signing up for their free account. Turns out just making a free account dropped a 4-night stay from $132 to $85. I couldn't believe it was that easy to save almost 40% just by clicking one button. Now I'm checking every booking site for hidden member deals before I pay. Anyone else find random savings like this they wish they knew sooner?

$47 is basically a whole extra day of eating tapas and accidentally ordering the wrong thing. I once overpaid for a hostel in Lisbon by $30 only to find a guy in my dorm got the same bed for less just by using a student discount code he found on Twitter. Makes me feel like I've been paying a "stupid tax" for the last decade of traveling.

You gotta start checking discount codes before you book anything, learned that one the hard way too.

Wait, some guy on Twitter actually posted a working discount code in a dorm room? How did he even find that while he was already traveling? I always thought those codes were mostly scams or expired by the time you try to use them. Might have to start paying more attention to travel forums myself if people are actually sharing real deals like that.

@ Gibson.morgan learn from that and start checking coupon sites 10 mins before booking
