Why I stopped booking hostels in Barcelona after that one night on Las Ramblas
Last summer I spent 3 nights in a hostel right off Las Ramblas in Barcelona. It was 35 euros a night which seemed like a steal. But the noise from street performers and drunk tourists went on until 4 AM every single night. I barely slept and ended up paying 20 euros extra each day just for coffee and naps in a park. Turns out booking a hostel 3 blocks away in the El Born area would have been quieter and only 5 euros more. Has anyone else learned this lesson about staying too close to the main tourist drag?

Yeah, I read a travel blog that said Las Ramblas is basically a trap for tourists who want cheap beds but don't think about the noise. That 5 euro difference for El Born sounds like a smart trade off for actually sleeping.
