Finally stopped buying lunch at work and started meal prepping

I used to spend $12 a day on hospital cafeteria food. That's $60 a week easy. Now I cook Sunday afternoons and pack 5 containers of chicken and rice for the week. Saved $180 last month alone. Anyone else find meal prepping easier than they expected?

Wow, that's a really good point actually. I get what you're saying about variety but have you tried rotating just two or three different meals to keep it from getting old? Like chicken bowls Monday Tuesday, then chili or stir fry for the rest of the week. Most people I know who meal prep successfully just freeze half their portions and pull them out midweek which keeps the texture way better than fridge stuff. What kinds of meals have you tried that flopped?

Yeah I tried doing that rotation thing but then I completely forgot what was in the freezer and just ended up ordering pizza three nights in a row instead... The whole system falls apart for me once I lose track of what's even back there.

Meal prepping is fine for some people but the food gets old fast by day four. Chicken and rice starts tasting like cardboard no matter how much hot sauce you put on it. Not worth saving money if you dread eating your own cooking halfway through the week.
