Hot take: my $9 planner beat the $180 budgeting app, but a flat tire in Tulsa almost broke both
I was leaving a QuikTrip outside Tulsa when my tire blew, and in that panic I pulled out my paper planner instead of opening the app because the app wanted a $14 subscription to see my emergency fund, so tell me, is digital really worth it if it locks your own money behind a paywall?
Man, I kind of see it the other way. If you had your emergency fund in a bank account you can check for free, the app isn't really holding your money, it's just holding the screen that shows it. Having said that, a $14 sub to peek at your own savings does sound like a lot of crap, so I get the frustration.
