Just had a win by negotiating a lower interest rate, but the agent said it was a special exception. Now I'm torn!

Honestly, I used to dismiss those "special exception" lines as pure sales talk. Then I realized they're often a tactic to make you stop negotiating, which changed my perspective. Now I see it as an invitation to ask for even better terms.

Oh totally, been there. I used to see that "one-time offer" stuff on used car listings and just figured it was the real final price. Then a dealer friend told me it's basically the starting line for haggling. Kinda makes you rethink every "limited time" deal you see.

At the Chevy dealer, I just said no and they came down.

Check the fine print on those "one time" offers. I've seen them hide a dealer fee or mandatory add-on that brings the real price way up. Always ask for the out-the-door number before you even start talking. That cuts through the nonsense.
