Vent: wasted $40 on fancy stencils that barely fit my journal

I got all excited about those reusable stencil packs from Etsy with circles and boxes and stuff, thinking they'd speed up my weekly layouts. Problem is the little plastic sheets are a hair too wide for my A5 notebook and keep sliding around, plus the ink smears under the edges. Anyone found stencils that actually stay put without driving you nuts?

Yeah I actually disagree a bit here. I got the same kind of stencil pack from a shop called PaperX on Etsy and they fit my A5 Leuchtturm perfectly, no sliding at all. The trick is to press down on the corners with your non-dominant hand while you trace, keeps the ink from bleeding under the edges. Maybe try putting a little washi tape on the back of the stencil to grip the page better instead of blaming the whole pack.

Washi tape is a good tip, I've got clumsy hands so I usually just end up with ink all over my knuckles anyways.

Honestly the ink on the knuckles thing is so real. I feel your pain, I always manage to smear it across the side of my hand too. @ivan_murphy80 makes a good point about pressing the corners down though, I've tried that and it does help a bit. But tbh I think some stencils just have a mind of their own no matter what you do. Ngl I've given up on being neat and just embrace the mess now, it's part of the fun anyway.
