My aunt told me my gift baskets looked 'tacky' and she wasn't wrong
I used to throw those big plastic cellophane bags together with cheap filler grass for Christmas and birthdays. My aunt pulled me aside after I dropped one off and said 'honey, the bows look crooked and the shred is too bright.' It stung at first, but I spent a weekend watching tutorials and switched to real tissue paper and twine. Now I make baskets for 3 neighbors and they actually ask me to do theirs. Has anyone else had family call out their crafting in a way that actually helped?

Didn't happen to me, but my friend's grandma told her that her scarves looked like 'a cat threw up on knitting needles'? She was mad for like a week, then realized grandma was right about the color combos. Now she sells them on Etsy. Funny how the meanest comments can be the most helpful sometimes.

Two years ago my sister told me my chili looked like "beef swamp water" and I was furious until I realized she was right about the beans. Now I win the neighborhood cook off every fall. Sometimes the truth hurts but it also wins you a plastic trophy.
