Heard a guy at a conference say email marketing is dead. I pushed back on that.

I was at a small business meetup in Austin last week and this speaker claimed nobody opens emails anymore under 40. My own open rates from a campaign last month hit 22% on a list of 800 local customers. Is anyone else still seeing real results from email or am I the only one left?

Honestly, I think people get too caught up in what's "dead" versus what's actually working. I've been noticing a bigger pattern in everyday life that ties right into this. It's like how everyone's obsessed with the newest thing but then you see someone's grandma running a successful bakery just using a simple text message list and a Facebook page from 2015. The real story here is that old tools don't die, they just get quieter and more specific. Email works fine if you treat it like a conversation with people who actually want to hear from you, not a broadcast to the whole planet. Ngl, I've seen bigger loyalty from email campaigns than from any flashy social media contest that fades in a week.

Oh man, 22% open rate on a local list is solid. The angle nobody talks about is how email works better when you pair it with a physical postcard or flyer mailed first to warm them up - so your subject line feels familiar instead of spammy.

Is pairing email with a physical mailer like asking my dad to try Instagram - awkward at first but weirdly effective? I actually tried sending handwritten thank you notes to 50 customers last month after an email campaign and saw a bump in clickthroughs. Guess old habits do work, or maybe I just found the one customer group that still checks their mailbox.
