Question about pulling cable through conduit in an old building in Philly
Spent 4 hours yesterday fighting a 100 foot pull through a 2 inch conduit that was full of rocks and debris from some hack job years ago. Has anyone else run into hidden blockages like that and found a trick to clear them out besides just using a shop vac?
The "hack job years ago" part got me too. I had a pull in South Philly where we found an old wire nut and some gravel jammed in a LB fitting, and like @emeryj66 said, a camera is gold for that. Just be careful not to turn a small problem into a big one by pushing that mess further down the pipe.
Honestly that "hack job" part hits home, but one trick I've used is renting a drain snake with a camera attachment from Home Depot to find the exact blockage before trying to clear it. Saves you from just pushing debris deeper into the conduit.
