PSA: I compared two shutter curtain replacement methods on a Nikon F2

Last week I had a Nikon F2 with a shredded titanium curtain. I did the first curtain the way I always have, using the jig and factory specs. For the second one I tried the old timer trick of using a thin layer of contact cement on the drum instead of screws. The contact cement method was way faster and the curtain tension came out perfect on the first try. Has anyone else tried adhesive over the factory screw method on these old F bodies?

That old timer trick with contact cement sounds clever, but I've heard from a few guys in my camera club that heat is the big enemy of adhesives on those drums. @the_parker's buddy's curtain slipping is exactly the kind of failure I'd worry about if you ever use the camera in a hot car or under studio lights. Honestly, I'd stick with the screws just for peace of mind even if it takes a bit longer.

Had a buddy try the glue trick on his F2 and it worked great until it got hot and the curtain slipped.
