Pro tip: My fire pit went from smoking out the whole campsite to nearly invisible flames in one weekend

I swapped out my old damp wood pile for a bag of kiln-dried firewood I grabbed at a gas station outside Flagstaff, and the difference was insane. No more thick smoke cloud following me around or hacking up a lung every 10 minutes. Anyone else had a simple switch like that totally change their campfire game?

You ever tried burning pinon wood from out west? That stuff is like nature's scented candle compared to the wet garbage I used to drag out of my backyard. I made the same switch last summer after a buddy told me about it, and I felt like an idiot for not figuring it out sooner. The heat output alone was night and day, plus my clothes didnt smell like I'd been chain-smoking campfires all weekend. I'll never go back to that mystery wood pile again.

Is it really that serious though, or just people overthinking firewood?
