Pro tip: test tent seams in your driveway before heading out
My REI Half Dome leaked like a sieve at Lake Tahoe last month after a light drizzle. I sealed the seams at home but never tested it. Now I set the tent up and hose it down for 10 minutes before every trip. Anyone else get burned by untested seam sealer?

That hose test saved me too after I got soaked in the Boundary Waters back in 2021. One thing though, seam sealer needs a full 24 hours to cure, not just an hour like the tube says. I sealed my tent in the morning, thought it was dry by noon, and it still leaked under the rain fly. Now I seal it, wait a day, then do the driveway test. It’s a pain but way better than a wet sleeping bag.

Learned that same lesson the hard way, @brianreed, now I always double the dry time before trusting it.
