PSA: The 5 star tent reviews I trusted were all written the same weekend in June
I got curious about a tent I was looking at on a big retailer site, so I clicked into the reviewers. Six of the top reviews were posted within a two day stretch back in June, and three of them used the exact same phrase about the rain fly. It made me realize I should be reading the 2 and 3 star reviews instead, since those people actually took the thing out in weather. Does anyone have a site or channel where the reviews are from people who camped at least a full season with the gear?
Did you sort by most recent or most helpful when you did that? When I was picking out a new blender last year I read every single 1 star review and it honestly saved me from two terrible models. The good ones tell you exactly what breaks and when, not just that someone was mad about shipping. @the_terry is right that the bad reviews have the real info, you just have to skip past the ones that are only mad about the box being dented.
