Am I the only one noticing how cancel culture skips over wealthy influencers who apologize badly?
I was scrolling through TikTok last week and saw a beauty guru with 2 million followers get called out for making a racist joke in a 2018 video. She posted this super generic apology, no specific names or actions, just 'I'm sorry if anyone was hurt.' And nothing happened to her. No lost sponsors, no drop in followers, nothing. But I saw a small streamer with 12,000 followers get totally roasted and lose his Patreon for a similar joke that he actually apologized for directly and showed he learned from. It feels like there's this double standard where money and status act as a shield. Have you all noticed this pattern too, where rich people skate by while regular folks get dragged through the mud for the same stuff?

Saw a similar thing happen with a local contractor a few years back. He messed up a job real bad, apologized half-heartedly on Facebook, and everyone just moved on. Meanwhile, a handyman down the street made a tiny mistake and got torn apart in the same community group. Guess it's the same everywhere, money talks and bullshit walks.

Money talks and bullshit walks" - that hits the nail right on the head. I've watched the same pattern play out in restaurants, repair shops, even with people at church. A big name with deep pockets can screw up three or four times and folks just shrug. But a newer person, someone still building trust, they get crucified over a single misspelling or a late delivery. It's like people give a pass to the people they already know are successful. They figure the big shots earned the right to be sloppy. But for the little guy, every mistake is proof they don't belong. It's just how the world works, even if it ain't fair.

Right? "Money talks and bullshit walks" is basically the unofficial motto for how we treat rich people's screwups. Guess you gotta buy your way into a hall pass these days.
