Finally got a local pet store to stop using those shock collars after 8 months of talking to them

I was at Pet Palace on Main Street back in March and saw a worker zap a barking terrier with a shock collar. I wrote to the owner every week with studies from the AVMA about how it messes up dogs' behavior, and last Friday they finally switched to vibration collars. Has anyone else seen a small shop change their ways after sticking with it for a while?

Man, that's awesome you stuck with it. Keep the AVMA studies handy for when they push back - I got a groomer to drop prong collars the same way by just showing them the research every visit. Consistency really does wear them down.

Nah, I think research only works on people who already want to change.

Did you ever have to loop in their vet before they finally listened?
