That Portland artist got deleted for a joke about a bridge
Last spring a mural painter in SE Portland posted a silly sketch of the Morrison Bridge with a smashed car on it. Someone screenshot it, called it 'sick encouragement of drunk driving', and within 4 days his Etsy shop was gone and a local gallery dropped his show. The kicker is the city's own art commission had approved the same joke in a public workshop. So we now let one angry tweet erase a career over a drawing that no one actually crashed into? Has anyone here seen a cancellation that was just pure misunderstanding get fully reversed?

That whole thing felt so backwards. A friend of mine who does comic strips for a local paper said she saw the original sketch and it was clearly a dark humor take on Portland's potholes, not drunk driving. Seems like nobody even asked the artist what he meant before the mob grabbed their pitchforks. What gets me is how fast everyone moved, but how quiet it goes when the truth comes out. No, I haven't seen a reversal actually stick, it's like the apology never travels as far as the outrage.
